Difference Between Colonization and Protectorate

 Difference Between Colonization and Protectorate

Key Distinction:

Colonization completely takes over a region, making it an extension of the colonizing country, while a protectorate remains semi-independent but under foreign influence and protection.

Examples:

Colonization: British rule in India (1858–1947), French rule in Algeria (1830–1962).

Protectorate: Egypt under British protection (1882–1922), Morocco under French protection (1912–1956).
